Our Personalised Blockout backdrops are a fantastic solution. They are printed on a polyester black-backed fabric creating your very own custom band banners and stage scrims. We print and finish these in the same way as our standard Personalised Backdrop.

We also use the Personalised Blockout Backdrop material to manufacture stage backdrops, photography backdrops, exhibition displays and podium backdrops. The blackout fabric blocks out any light from behind, making these suitable for use outdoors, in front of windows or light sources. We print these superb fabric backdrops using dye-sublimation technology to provide eye-popping, vibrant colours and photo-quality images.

Large light stop backdrops

We print fabrics on rolls up to 3m wide to provide huge seamless panels. We can manufacture more giant band backdrops. Large backdrops will have a seam, but this is expected on any large format printing over a certain size.

Blackout backdrop finishing

We finish your personalised blockout backdrop free of charge. The finishing of your personalised Blockout backdrop to your specification and choose eyelets or pole pockets to suit. Many backdrop banners will have eyelets at the top for hanging, with a pole pocket at the bottom through which you would insert a weighted pole or dowel. Some backdrops are sized to fit across lighting rigs, with eyelets in each corner for secure fixing with bungee clips or cable ties. We also provide a Backdrop Stand.

High-Quality Blockout Backdrop Fabric

  • Lightweight and easily transportable, roll our banners and backdrops or fold them up.
  • Washable by hand – wipe clean. Machine washable at 30 degrees.
  • Flame-retardant (with Fire Certificate) and non-reflective – so no glare from spotlights. Band photographers and film crews love them!
  • Indoor or outdoor use.

We can also make even cheaper large format personalised backdrops from standard PVC or Mesh banner material. Although these save on initial cost, Cheap banners are more difficult to pack without creasing, take up more storage room, and not look as good for as long.

An Ideal Podium Backdrop

Blockout Fabric is ideal for a Podium Backdrop as it can cope with varying lighting conditions. On a stage, light can come from all angles and directions – from the outdoors and from internal lighting and spotlights. Strong light from behind a normal backdrop can cause the design to appear ‘washed out’ to the audience, whereas Blockout Fabric will prevent that.

Our dye sublimation print process copes with any design. Feel free to incorporate text, logos, illustrations, solid colours and photographic images in your creation.

Flame Retardancy Certificate

Our Fire Certificate for the Personalised Blockout Backdrop is unique in the industry in that we have our fabrics tested for flame retardancy after printing. Many venue safety officers will now not accept a generic fire safety certificate if it is just for the base fabric. Tested to the highest UK standards, our backdrops surpass BS5867-2: 2008: Type B.

Why are your the costs for your backdrops much lower than other suppliers?

We have developed our own unique manufacturing system. This system allows us to automate most parts of the print and finishing processes. We can now produce higher quality backdrops at much lower costs than our competitors.

Are your backdrops good quality?

Yes. Our backdrops are excellent quality. We have 1000’s of happy customers all around the globe.

Will you check my artwork?

Yes, if there is a problem we will contact you. You are though responsible for supplying your artwork correctly, and we cannot be held responsible if you send a wrong or incorrect file.

What is the print process?

We print our backdrops using a CMYK Dye sublimation process. Click here for more details.

What colour is the fabric?

The fabric starts out white. We can print any colour you require as we use a full colour CMYK print process. We then print your image onto the white material. If you require for example a banner with a black background please make sure that the background of your artwork is black, set to C-10%, M-10%, Y-10%, K-100%.

Will my backdrop require a join?

Dependent on the finishing specification, backdrops which are under 2.9m in one dimension will not require a join. Some finishing such as pole pockets top and bottom will require more fabric, so this figure then reduces to 2.6m.

Larger backdrops will have a seam where section pieces of material are stitch-seamed together. Due to the increase in the viewing distance on larger backdrops a join is never very noticeable.

How long will my backdrop last?

If you look after your backdrop it will last for years. When packing up just fold up neatly as you would a bed sheet and ideally store away from direct sunlight and dust. Over time direct sunlight will bleach your backdrop.

Are your backdrops water proof?

Yes our backdrops are fully waterproof so can be used outside if required. Like any material Please make sure you dry before storing as this can cause mold which may ruin your backdrop.

Can I Iron my backdrop if it develops creases in storage?

Yes you can iron the material on a low heat.

Can I wash my backdrop?

Yes you can wash on a very low heat of 30 degrees.

How do you produce your hems?

The hems are folded and then professionally machine stitched to create a strong durable edge. Edges that don’t require any eyelets will be stitched as standard which will stop the edges fraying.

Can I have pole pockets?

Yes we can manufacture pole pockets at whatever size you require. For a standard scaffold tube you will need a 150mm flat pocket size.

What if I don’t see the finishing I require?

Please enter your special information into the additional information box. Most standard finishing is free but if this isn’t something which we class as standard finishing we will contact you to advise.

Is this product fire rated?

Tested after print process to BS5867-2: 2008: Type B. The test certificate can be downloaded here.

Can you ship around the world?

Can light shine through my backdrop from behind?

No this is a complete blockout fabric thanks to the black resin liner on the back.

Does this product include a stand?

No. This is a loose backdrop and doesn’t include a stand.

This product type has been generically tested for flame retardancy AFTER printing using our dye-sublimation process and AFTER our standard finishing procedures.

Buying banners in confidence

You can buy from Banner World with confidence. Your job will go through several checks before manufacture. Firstly when your job comes in, we check all your uploaded files and cross-reference each file against your order. At this point, if we see that artwork is incorrect or if there is a file missing we will contact you to request new artwork. Most of our banners and fabrics are manufactured at our large print factory in Europe. Our standard turnaround on items is 5-6 working days for delivery. Even though most of our ordering system has been automated, we still carry out several manual checks before processing your order. If at any point we have a question or a problem with your order you will be contacted before manufacturing.

Our processes

Please read the information below on how your order is processed. Each order goes through several checks before printing. Our file checking service is standard procedure on all orders. Checking your files means that you can place your order in confidence, knowing that we will check to make sure your order and corresponding artwork match and are correct. Anything we are not sure that we will contact you before proceeding.

What is Our Initial checking service?

When you place an online order, we will cross-reference your artwork against your order. At this point, we will check that the artwork sizes and file type match the order. We will make sure we have the correct number of artwork files for the job. At this stage, if anything appears to be incorrect, we will place the order on hold and contact you immediately.

How do we process your order?

Once we are happy with your order, we will then process it. We collate all the information for each job, including finishing and material type. The job information is then sent with your artwork to the pre-press department. Pre-press is where we will create and prepare your job for printing.

Our Pre Press and second checking service.

Pre-press refers to the stage before printing. Here your artwork is converted into the correct format for our machines and finishing processes. At this point, if something is spotted which isn’t correct or if there is a problem we will again contact you.

How do we print and track your order through the factory?

Your job is now batched together with other items on the same material. Each item has assigned to it a unique code. The code is used to track the order through our factory. The information is used to check the material, quantity and finishing information on the item. The order then goes through our print presses.

How do we finish your printed items?

Every job we produce is different to the next, whether it be size, material, shape or finishing. Your printed items will be finished as requested on your order. We automate as much of the finishing as possible, cutting down on labour costs and passing on the savings to you. The Prepress data is inputted into parts of our finishing equipment. Your graphics are now finished to your custom requirements. Each printed product is set up differently for each type of finishing process. A banner that has hem and eyelets will be manufactured and produced in a different way to a flag with a pole pocket.

How are your items packed?

We have now manufactured your items. The finishing pieces now move onto the packing department. At the packing stage, we collate your order. Items get checked off against the order using the order code system. The printed goods get wrapped and packed, ready for despatch.

How do you ship my goods?

Now your item has been packed it is ready to be shipped. From placing your order, your goods have taken approx 24-48 hours to get to this stage. We have a logistics team which arrange the shipping through UPS. Our standard delivery (£15 or free over £250) will now take an additional three days to be delivered to an address on UK mainland and most of mainland Europe. Our standard shipping will travel via road and sea to reach the UK. We do offer a faster 1-day shipping method which is our 4-day turnaround service. The fast turnaround service is expensive on low-value bulky orders and is more cost-effective on higher volume jobs. Items to the US and other worldwide destinations will take longer to be delivered. For items going to Ireland, the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Scottish highlands etc. please add an extra day onto delivery times
