How to set artwork for a banner with pole pockets

When creating your banner artwork please set the artwork at the finished size. Finished size is the overall size of the banner including the pole pockets.

Diagram below shows pole pocket allowance for a banner with 150mm pockets top and bottom.

150mm flat pockets are industry standard to fit a 2 inch diametre scaffold tube

200mm clear area is needed at the top and the bottom of the artwork. This allows 150mm for the pocket and 50mm for the weld. Please ensure no text or logos enter this area.  Background colour and background images are fine to enter the pocket area.

How to Set Banner Pole Pockets

Why do I need pole pockets?

Pole pockets are used on certain banner installations. The purpose of a pole pocket is so that a banner can slide over a pole or cable. Pole pockets can also be used at the bottom of a drape or banner to weigh down and add some tension. This can reduce creases and give more of a solid tensioned appearance.

Scaffold banners?

Traditional scaffold banners generally have a 125mm flat pocket top and bottom as a standard scaffold tube is 50mm diameter. Please ensure you measure the thickness of your tubing before ordering

Pole Pockets On Banners What size should my pole pocket be?

Many banners require pole pockets. The size of these pockets will depend on the diameter of the pole being used to insert.
An easy way to calculate your flat pocket size is by using these 4 steps:

  1. Diameter of pole x 3.14 = the circumference of your tube.
  2. Then Divide this number by 2.
  3. = flat pocket (minimum size).
  4. x1.5. This is now your finished flat pocket size. Mutlipling by 1.5 will add extra room around the pole. You won’t want your pole pockets too tight as this can cause a pocket to rip.
